D.C. Popeyes Shuts Down After Viral Video Shows Rats Swarming Kitchen

A D.C. Eastern Market Popeye’s restaurant has closed its doors after violating a health code. A viral video showed rats swarming the eatery’s kitchen.

Officials shut down the fast-food restaurant about two weeks after the video made its rounds. A notice was posted on the front door of the business, Fox 5 D.C. reported.

The footage was captured by a man who claimed he delivered raw chicken to area Popeyes and showed his viewers inside the now-closed location. The video showed several rats scurrying inside the kitchen.

“You still love that chicken from Popeyes?” The man says, mocking the company’s jingle.

The video has since been shared hundreds of times.
