According to officials in Washington, D.C., a 15-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to felony murder for her part in a carjacking that killed a 66-year-old Uber driver.
The 15-year-old, who has not been identified due to her age, pleaded guilty to one count of felony murder, according to Claire Huber, a spokeswoman for DC Courts.
Many of the other charges were dismissed.
The two teenagers were detained after reportedly attempting to carjack an Uber Eats vehicle owned by Mohammad Anwar, a Pakistani immigrant remembered by his family as “a hardworking immigrant who came to the United States in 2014 to build a better life for himself and his family.”
In March, the Metropolitan Police Department reported that the teens used a stun gun on the driver, causing him to crash his vehicle.
Responders discovered the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries when they arrived at the scene, which was about a mile from Nationals Park. At the hospital, he was declared dead.
The sentencing hearing for the 15-year-old girl is set for June 4, according to Huber.
A court hearing for the unidentified 13-year-old arrested was also rescheduled for May 19 on Tuesday.
