DC Young Fly recently shared his personal grief over the death of his late girlfriend, Jacky Oh, linking his pain to the prevalent trend of Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL). In an emotional conversation on Cam Newton’s podcast ‘Funky Friday,’ the actor-comedian discussed the tragic circumstances surrounding Jacky’s death following a cosmetic surgery termed a “mommy makeover,” which included a BBL. The procedure led to severe complications, resulting in brain swelling and bleeding around her torso, with her death later ruled accidental.
Each time DC Young Fly sees someone with a BBL, he’s painfully reminded of the surgery that took Jacky’s life at just 32 years old. During the podcast, he expressed his views on the pressures women face to meet beauty standards and emphasized the importance of men supporting their partners’ self-esteem. “I get why women want to enhance themselves, but fellas, we have to do more on just continuously telling our women that they’re beautiful,” he stated.
DC’s message extended to both men and women, urging them to appreciate natural beauty and reiterating the dangers of seeking unnecessary cosmetic enhancements. “And women, listen to your man,” he continued, highlighting the widespread occurrence of BBLs and the mixed feelings they stir in him. “There go another big booty… She made it. Go in the club, oh, these motherfuckers in here made it.”
While not outright condemning the choice to undergo cosmetic procedures, DC Young Fly stressed the importance of affirmation and acceptance in relationships. “I’m not going to sit here and tell somebody don’t do what they want to do. But if you got a woman just continuously tell her that she’s gorgeous, continuously tell her that she’s beautiful and whatever happens after that, it happens. People make decisions as a unit, you have to live with that as a unit. I took a loss as a unit.”
The loss of Jacky Oh continues to deeply affect DC, who also faced the added sorrow of a stolen bag containing her death certificate. Through his public discussions, he seeks to use his platform to foster awareness and change around the topic of cosmetic surgery and self-image.
