On Monday, MTV’s rebooted TRL will kick off from its original studio in Time Square. After nearly nine years, the classic after-school music show will return with new host, DC Young Fly.
Earlier this week, Baller Alert visited the set for the new show. Our correspondent, Cynthia Gitonga, kicked it with DC to ask him a few questions about the reboot. Although the Internet and social media are dominating the entertainment industry, TRL has been dubbed the “social media before social media existed,” as it linked fans with their favorite artists through intimate interviews and live performances, and the reboot is expected to follow a similar blueprint.
“We really tryna get folks to put their phones down,” DC said of implementing the Internet into the show. “We tryna bring real television back.”
The young host promises to bring the news, pop culture, music and good energy back to TV. But, if Rihanna stops by TRL, don’t expect DC to keep his cool.
“Rihanna,” DC said when asked which celebrity he would lose it over. “You gotta respect any woman who go anywhere with her titty out. My type of woman. That’s class right there. You can’t teach that!”
