DDG is finally spilling the beans on parenting with Halle Bailey.
The rapper recently opened up about unexpectedly becoming parents with the ‘Little Mermaid’ star.
The couple confirmed their relationship in 2022 and welcomed their first child, Halo, last year. DDG shared their parenthood journey on The Jason Lee Show, explaining that although they weren’t planning to have a baby, the joyous surprise led them to embrace parenthood.
In the interview, DDG acknowledged the unplanned nature of their journey, saying, “That kinda just happened…we weren’t aiming for a baby, but it just kinda happened. What are we going to do?” Despite both being in their early 20s and at the peak of their careers, DDG emphasized their mutual interest in parenthood as a significant factor in deciding to welcome their son.
“Both of us have the same interest in being parents,” DDG revealed. “And I feel like she always wanted to be a mom. We always give off that energy, and I always wanted a kid. So, from there, we just made the decision to go through with it.”
During Bailey’s pregnancy, the couple kept the news private to protect her from potential stress caused by public scrutiny. DDG explained, “I think it was more so like, people were already giving us negative vibes, so it’s like, why let them know and then let them make her pregnancy stressful?”
The couple eventually shared the news of their son’s arrival in January through heartfelt Instagram posts. Bailey expressed her joy, saying, “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me was bring me my son.” DDG echoed the sentiment on his Instagram, referring to their son as his “biggest blessing.”
Despite the joyful occasion, Bailey and DDG have chosen to keep their son’s face off social media, opting to share glimpses of precious moments with their followers, including reflections on Bailey’s baby bump.
The two seem to be joyfully enjoying their relationship along with parenthood.
