Football fans around the globe had been holding their breath, as Coach Prime’s health remained unknown for months. The legendary Hall of Fame cornerback turned Colorado head coach had kept personal details private while preparing for the Buffaloes’ next season.
Today, at a press conference at the University of Colorado, Deion Sanders revealed the truth. Doctors discovered a bladder tumor that led to him undergoing bladder removal surgery. Fortunately, the procedure was successful, and Sanders is officially cancer‑free.
Emotion welled up in Sanders as he spoke directly to the media. He shared his gratitude and resilience. “I’m able, I’m strong, I’m ready… it has been a tremendous journey,” Sanders said. He emphasized his faith in a heartfelt reminder: “I’m truly thankful that God is so good — you have no idea.”

Coach Prime also gave a heartfelt nod to his oldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., who stood by his side from day one. As Deion Jr., Shedeur, and Shilo all geared up for their rookie NFL seasons, Prime praised his eldest for being his rock through uncertainty. “Much love to my son Junior, who has not left my side since we found out what was taking place,” he said.

Sanders framed his journey in football terms, noting that while the destination remains the same, the road is never without challenges. “Just like football, the adversity — the tough yards, the hits you didn’t see coming — that’s what builds the real version of you,” he said. He reminded everyone that it’s the struggles alongside the triumphs that shape true greatness.
