A year after revealing he had two of his toes amputated, Deion Sanders is now at risk of losing his entire foot.Â
The University of Colorado, Boulder football coach detailed his grim medical issues in the latest clip shared by “Thee Pregame Show.” The series documents the Colorado Buffaloes football team and takes viewers on an inside look into Sanders’ latest medical appointment, where his doctors discussed the possibility of him needing a foot amputation.Â
In the video, Sanders explains that he no longer has feeling in the bottom of his foot. He is also experiencing pain in other areas of his foot while wearing shoes. The issues with Sanders’ feet are longstanding and plagued him for much of his time as head coach at Jackson State. He was often seen using a scooter. Before then, blood clots in his left leg and foot led to him being reduced to eight toes.Â
Now Sanders is faced with the possibility of a new operation to relieve the pain, though the outcome could leave him permanently impaired. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Kenneth Hunt and vascular surgeons Dr. Donald Jacobs and Dr. Max Wohlauer are the ones who broke the devastating news to Sanders. The football team’s athletic trainer, Lauren Askevold, was also in the meeting.Â
After the clip went viral, Sanders shared an inspirational message of perseverance on his Instagram.Â
“Everybody has a story, but your ending hadn’t been written. Write the way you want this thang to go and make it happen just that way,” he wrote.Â
As of now, Sanders has not yet committed to further surgery on his foot.Â
