A former Delta Air Lines flight attendant claims she was fired after posting an image on Facebook of former Donald Trump wearing a Ku Klux Klan hood.
According to Insider, a black woman named Leondra Taylor claimed that her termination on April 20, 2021, was “racially motivated.”
An Atlanta airline spokesperson told The Post: “When Delta employees intermix Delta’s brand with conduct or content that does not reflect our values of professionalism, inclusion, and respect, that conduct can result in discipline or termination.”
“While personnel issues are considered private between Delta and its employees, the circumstances described by our former employee are not an accurate or complete explanation of the company’s termination decision,” the spokesperson added.
The court filing obtained by Insider alleges Taylor posted an image on Facebook depicting Trump and Biden during one of their presidential debates in 2020.
In the cartoon, Trump is standing feet away from Biden while wearing the infamous white hooded sheet on stage. The quote bubble in the image refers to Chris Wallace, the debate moderator, who says: “Thank you, Mr. President, for wearing your mask.”
Taylor admits to posting the picture in the complaint she’s filed in Georgia district court, but she maintains that it wasn’t offensive or discriminating.
Taylor believed the image was meant to emphasize racial discrimination against African Americans and COVID-19 protective measures.
From her point of view, she was singled out for termination since another overtly political white co-worker who posted on their social media was not let go.
Taylor also claims that Delta retaliated against her after she assisted another flight attendant who had been fired for violating the company’s social media policies.
Delta flight attendants are the only group not represented by a union.
