Delta Flight Catches Fire Before Takeoff at Orlando Airport

A Delta Air Lines flight preparing to depart from Orlando International Airport on Monday was evacuated after a fire broke out in one of its engines. The incident occurred on Flight 1213, which was scheduled to take off for Atlanta at 11 a.m.

According to Delta, the fire started in the tailpipe of one of the aircraft’s two engines. The plane, identified as an Airbus A330, was carrying 200 passengers, along with 10 flight attendants and 2 pilots.

Video posted on social media by passengers shows flames and smoke coming from the right engine of the aircraft. Other footage shows emergency slides deployed with passengers standing nearby on the tarmac.

In a statement, Delta Air Lines said, “We appreciate our customers’ cooperation and apologize for the experience. Nothing is more important than safety and Delta teams will work to get our customers to their final destinations as soon as possible.”

The airline confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated and returned to the terminal, where they were provided with food and beverages. There were no reports of injuries at the time of the incident.

Orlando International Airport also issued a statement confirming that the fire was contained and extinguished. The airport noted that some passengers were evacuated using emergency slides.

Delta stated that a replacement aircraft will be brought in to transport passengers to their intended destinations, and maintenance crews will inspect the affected plane.

No additional details have been released at this time.
