Demand For Counterfeit Vaccine Cards Rises As Omicron Spreads

The demand for fake COVID-19 vaccine cards has steadily risen over the last few weeks, thanks partly to the surge in omicron cases. 

A rise in demand has also affected prices. TMZ reports the cards are selling for around $250 now, a $50 increase from what they cost in September. 

The outlet reports that thousands of people are now selling the cards. While they were initially sold on the dark web, counterfeit cards are becoming easier to find. They have been spotted in chatrooms and forums. 

Sources say that as omicron spreads, the price will increase. This results from more people proving their vaccine status amid the rise in cases. 

Following the holiday season, it’s expected that the numbers will continue to increase.
