DeMarcus Cousins is the latest NBA star to let the public into his life through film.
A documentary called “The Resurgence” will be debuting on Showtime network. The piece is putting a highlight on Cousins’ emotional journey back to the game after a torn Achilles injury. Not to mention, an inside look on what led to the unexpected move of joining the Golden State Warriors.
Fans will get to see exclusive footage of the moment the 28-year-old power forward got the official call to join the team. Details in the program explain how Golden State played as an opportunity for him to stay relevant in the league as he pursued becoming a free agent again. The physical restraint of his injury made him unappealing to most teams, except the 6-time-championship winning Warriors.
He also shared Steph Curry and Kevin Durant’s excitement to welcome him on the roster after getting numerous denials from others. Though he wanted to get back to work as soon as possible, he wasn’t compromising himself as a player.
“This is my…last resort. Yeah, I could’ve probably got a decent contract from a bad team, but how does that help me? I’m already fighting a career-ending injury. I’m not gonna put myself in an already-bad-situation to prove my value or my worth as a player in a situation that’s not looking to win,” he said.
Watch DeMarcus’ intense path back to the hardwood on April 13th.
