Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who faces 40 years behind bars for murdering George Floyd, is allegedly under investigation for another incident of brutality that is very similar to the death of Floyd.
According to TMZ, law enforcement officials have received a disturbing video from 2017 that shows Chauvin allegedly brutalizing a 14-year-old Black teen, and the feds are now actively investigating.
The video allegedly shows Chauvin violently subduing the teenager and viciously hitting him in the head with force so brutal he required stitches to close the wound.
Chauvin allegedly held the teenage boy down on the ground with his knee for 17 minutes as he struggled for air. Chauvin was reportedly oblivious to the teen’s pleas that he couldn’t breathe.
Prosecutors believe this video points out another important similarity with the two cases, “Those videos show a far more violent and forceful treatment of this child than Chauvin describes in his [police] report,” the prosecutor explained.
That incident is now under criminal investigation as Federal prosecutors prepare to have a grand jury to review the case.
