Derek Jeter doesn’t want the hood stinking up his reputation. Ok, he didn’t exactly say it in those words but one could jump to those conclusions after the former baseball star backed out of an underwear deal due to fear 50 Cent’s affiliation was too “urban.”
TMZ reports that Jeter signed a 3-year deal to be a director of Swedish underwear company, Frigo, in 2011.  In 2013 Jeter allegedly told Frigo he didn’t want the public to know of his involvement with the company when they launched in the U.S.  Obviously needing a major face to endorse their product, Frigo called upon none other than 50 Cent. If you follow 50 Cent on social media, you may notice he’s been promoting Frigo for over a year now.  Allegedly Derek Jeter wasn’t too thrilled about that.Â
In their $4.7 million lawsuit against Jeter, the majority owner of Frigo, Mathias Ingvarsson, says that Jeter felt 50 Cents involvement would make the brand too “urban,” so he backed out. Because of this, the company says that they lost $30 million in value, so they’re asking Jeter to pay up!
A rep for Jeter had no comment but 50 sure had something to say. He took to his happy space, Instagram, to denounce his fandom for Jeter AND the Yankees. Â “Wow, guess I’m not a Yankees fan anymore. LETS GO METS? Man you can’t trust nobody these day smh,” 50 posted.Â
Jeter’s feelings towards 50 must be news to him, considering the fact they’ve been spotted at a few events together in the past. Wonder why he didn’t say anything then?
