Could Derrick Rose’s Future in The NBA be in Jeopardy?

Earlier this season, #DerrickRose took a leave of absence from the Cleveland Cavaliers to handle a personal issue. At the time, ESPN reported that the former league MVP had been taking the time to “re-evaluate his future in the NBA,” amid his injury.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, after his short break, Rose returned to the team with a new mindset, ready to play the game he always loved. But, when tensions in the Cleveland locker room began to spill onto the court, the team’s front office had to make a change.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a result, several players were shipped off to other cities, including Rose, who was sent to Utah just before the trade deadline. However, just before the ink dried on the deal, the team released the former NBA MVP.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, as he sits in NBA limbo, what’s next for the point guard? Is his career in the NBA in jeopardy? Some say so.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“The injuries and lack of enthusiasm to play hurt him,” a Western Conference executive told Bleacher Report. However, Ken Berger of the publication believes Rose still has some fight in him, simply because he has yet to give up on his injury-prone body.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Everyone’s holding on to him being the MVP,” a source close to the baller said of Rose. “He knows what he can do in this league. It’s just a matter of trying to find the right fit for him and his talent.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, as we pick up on the last half of the season, Rose may have to wait to prove himself in the forthcoming season. However, the baller’s team hopes something comes a bit sooner- preferably before Thursday’s deadline for free agents to be playoff eligible. But, according to reports, the baller is only getting offers in the form of 10-day contracts.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“He’s not trying to go into a developing situation or trying to find out who he is,” the source continued. “He knows who he is as a player.” Which is true, as the baller gave a similar take two months ago, saying, “I know how good I am,” he told Berger. “And right now, the only thing that I’m missing is an opportunity. Just being patient and taking my time.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
