More details surrounding the death of Brian Laundrie have been made public after the full autopsy report was released on Monday.
The 23-year-old’s remains were located in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park back in October. In November, it was revealed he had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Other than that, details were scarce until the 47-page report was released today.
According to the report, Laundrie’s “skeletal remains and personal effects were in plain sight and scattered upon the dirt.” Many of the bones recovered displayed signs of “gnawing and chewing” that were “consistent with carnivores and/or omnivores including canines such as feral dogs and coyotes along with rodents and raccoons.”
A pair of green shorts, a green belt, slip-on shoes, a backpack, a white metal ring, and an unknown handgun were also located. The gun was described as a snub-nose revolver.
At a “secondary” scene, non-human remains were found, along with a “MOAB Coffee Roasters” hat and a handwritten note. The report did not specify what was written in the note. In addition, investigators located Laundrie’s drybag with a journal and a wood box with a picture and a notebook. The FBI recently revealed that he admitted to killing his 22-year-old fianceée, Gabby Petito.
Laundrie was not under the influence of any substance, according to the toxicology report. He did not take any medication and did not have a primary care provider. According to the report, Laundrie’s parents were asked about his social history but declined to comment.
Petito went missing while her and Laundrie were on a cross-country trek together. Laundrie returned without her to his parent’s house on Sept. 1. Her body was located in a Wyoming campground on Sept. 19.
