A few weeks ago, Cape Coral, Florida, experienced a major blow from Hurricane Milton. But, the town took another blow after a beloved restaurant, The Boathouse Tiki Bar and Grill, burned down just hours after reopening following the hurricane.
The entire ordeal went down on Thursday, as the restaurant opened its doors to the public to regain a sense of normalcy. However, tragedy struck later that night. According to the Cape Coral Fire Department, the fire occurred as employees closed up for the night. Thankfully, they were able to evacuate everyone from the building, but the flames quickly overtook the building, probably due to the fully stocked thatched roof with fresh supplies and alcohol combined with strong winds.
By the time the fire was under control, the remains of the restaurant were nothing but ashes. Investigators are currently looking into what caused the fire but have not ruled out the possibility of an electrical issue. As of now, the establishment’s owners have not commented on the situation or announced any plans for the future.
Nonetheless, the disaster highlights the ongoing challenges Florida residents have faced since the back-to-back hurricanes of Helen and Milton. With the effects continuing, many regions unaffected by the hurricanes have rallied together to lend a helping hand to their neighboring residents.
