The producer of Dexter and Nurse Jackie has signed a deal with Showtime and CBS Television Studios, Variety reports.
Clyde Phillips will develop projects for both companies to air either on or outside CBSViacom’s services.
“Securing the talents of a gifted writer/producer/showrunner like Clyde is a huge bonus for the Studio,” CBS Television Studios president David Stapf said in a statement. “There are few creators out there that have successfully crossed so many genres, and we’re fortunate to have him join our team. I’m looking forward to discovering where his fertile imagination goes next.”
Phillips is a veteran in the television game, creating multiple series such as Suddenly Susan, Get Real, and Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.
He’s also written and produced for shows Feed the Beast and Boomtown, and was the showrunner for the Billy Bob Thornton series Goliath.
“Clyde is a world-class showrunner and filmmaker who brings intelligence, depth, maturity, and style to both drama and comedy series,” Showtime president of entertainment Gary Levine said. “Our many collaborations in the past have been deeply gratifying, and I am thrilled that we will be working together again.”
