The question of whether Lil Wayne should perform at the Super Bowl has sparked a separate conversation surrounding Drake being asked to do the show.
As hip-hop heads continue debating Kendrick Lamar’s presence at next year’s Super Bowl, rumors have surfaced that Drizzy turned down the show multiple times. Mal, of the “Rory & Mal” podcast, alleged days ago that the Canadian star had been highly sought after for a halftime performance, though he never accepted the offer.
“Drake has been offered the Super Bowl show for some years now and has turned it down. Probably four years, he’s been offered to perform at the Super Bowl, said no for whatever reason,” Mal said on his show.
Hip-hop journalist Elliott Wilson also backed Mal’s claims, telling HipHopDX’s “The Bigger Picture” that Drizzy turned down the offer for the 2020 Super Bowl held in Miami and the 2021 game in Tampa. However, Bloomberg sports reporter Randall Williams has disputed this, sharing that multiple NFL sources denied that Drake was ever asked to be part of the Super Bowl.
“NFL sources told me in the five years the NFL has been partnered with Roc Nation, the two parties have never offered Drake the Super Bowl Halftime Show. One source said, ‘it’s a blatant lie,’” Williams tweeted Friday morning.

Drake and no one from Roc Nation has spoken out to clear up the mystery surrounding the supposed offer. However, this is just another layer of the Super Bowl drama. Wayne finally spoke out to express that he was “hurt” when he didn’t receive the offer to perform at the February 2025 game, which will take place in his hometown, New Orleans. Nicki Minaj has called out Jay and Roc Nation for purposely choosing Lamar over Wayne due to a personal vendetta against her, Birdman, and Drake.
Denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game for no other reason but your ego. Your hatred for BIRDMAN, Drake & Nicki got you punishing Lil Wayne?!?!!! LIL WAYNE!!!!!!!!!! THE GOAT?!!!!!!!!!!! Nola what’s good?!!!!!! Eminem stood firm on having 50Cent come out.…
