Did Nicki Minaj Shade Drake And The Grammys In Her “Hard White” Music Video?

Nicki Minaj just dropped the new video for “Hard White” from her ’Queen’ album, and fans are speculating that the visuals include a hard diss to #Drake.

The video, which features Minaj in a dark castle surrounded by dancers painted in all white, also features a quick flash of a scorpion broken down in pieces. A somewhat obvious reference to Drake, and his Grammy-nominated “Scorpion” album.

In the visual, Nicki raps “Got these b*tches shook, they shocked, no stun gun” just as the scorpion appears in full form and then in broken pieces in the next frame.

The Barbs took to Twitter to decode the video’s scenes and also defend their Queen, especially since the relationship between Nicki and Drake has seemed to cool off in recent months. Both have unfollowed each other unceremoniously on social media.

Nicki also threw shade at the Grammy Awards with a shot of a gramophone- also known as a phonograph, which resembles the Grammy statue where she raps in the song, “I’m the trophy of the game, everybody tryna win me.”

“Hard White,” which was produced by Boi-1da and !llmind, was a standout track from the moment the album was released as fans and critics surmised that Minaj was taking shots at rival Cardi B, when she made reference to stripping with the lines:

“I ain’t never played a hoe position
I ain’t ever have to strip to get the pole position Hoes is dissin’? Okay, these hoes is wishin'”

Although Nicki denied the controversy at the time of the album’s release, the shade still stuck and there appears to be no love lost between those two as well.

Despite “Queen’s” great reviews and eligibility this award season, the album was completely snubbed by this year’s Grammy voters.

However, Nicki seems unbothered as she focuses on her European “Nicki Wrld Tour” with featured guest Juice WRLD, which kicks off on February 21 in  Munich, Germany.
