In a new legal twist, Christian Combs and his father, Diddy, are attempting to get a sexual assault lawsuit thrown out, claiming the alleged incident didn’t happen close enough to California for its laws to apply.
According to court filings, Christian’s legal team isn’t denying the allegations but argues California law has no say over incidents in international waters. The lawsuit, filed by yacht stewardess Grace O’Marcaigh, accuses Christian of groping and attempting to force oral sex on her while drunk aboard the luxury superyacht Victorious near the U.S. Virgin Islands on December 28, 2022.
She claims he entered the yacht’s studio drunk, ordered tequila for everyone, then forcibly kissed her and escalated his behavior. A co-worker allegedly stepped in before it got worse. She reported the incident the next day but says she was blamed for drinking and told to keep working.
Diddy, who chartered the yacht, is accused of creating a wild party environment and paying the captain to keep the story quiet.
Christian’s lawyers admit California has jurisdiction over him personally but argue the state’s laws shouldn’t apply outside its borders. If the judge rejects their motion, both men will have to respond to the serious claims.
