Sean “Diddy” Combs has withdrawn his efforts to secure release from prison ahead of his trial date in May 2025. Legal representatives for the Bad Boy founder filed a motion earlier today, officially dismissing his appeal for bail in his ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering case.

Combs, who has been incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since September, had previously been denied bail three times. His legal team’s motion stated, “Mr. Combs does not seek to appeal the district court’s denial of his renewed motion and hereby moves to voluntarily dismiss the appeal. Counsel has explained the effect of voluntary dismissal of the appeal.”

For months, Combs lobbied for his release, offering a $50 million bond backed by equity in his properties, strict security monitoring, and assurances that he would not interfere with investigations. However, during a bail appeal hearing on Nov. 27, Judge Arun Subramanian cited concerns about witness tampering, noting evidence that Combs contacted witnesses even after testifying before the grand jury in June 2024.

Though Combs will remain in custody, Judge Subramanian granted him access to a preloaded laptop yesterday to review discovery materials and prepare for his trial. He will have access to the device daily from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Combs’ legal troubles stem from a string of lawsuits triggered by a bombshell complaint from his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in November 2023. Cassie alleged that Combs drugged, sexually assaulted, and trafficked her—a lawsuit that was settled the day after it was filed. Since then, additional accusers have come forward with similar allegations.
