With Diddy’s trial just days away, we now know more information about the prosecutors in the case.
The federal prosecutors trying to secure a conviction against the Revolt founder are all white women, led by Maurene Ryan Comey, the daughter of former FBI director James Comey. Maurene, a Harvard Law grad, will head the U.S. Attorneys from the Southern District of New York when jury selection begins in Diddy’s sex trafficking trial. She previously helped secure a conviction against Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell.
Her father, James Comey, was fired by Donald Trump after his controversial role in the 2016 election.
Joining Maurene on the prosecution team are Emily Anne Johnson, Madison Reddick Smyser, Mary Christine Slavik, Meredith Foster, and Mitzi Steiner.
Diddy’s defense team plans to make race central to their argument. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, says this case is a takedown of a “successful Black man,” making the all-white female prosecution team a notable detail.
Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all five charges, which are two counts of sex trafficking, two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, and one count of racketeering. He also reportedly rejected a plea deal from the federal government. However, the details of that agreement remain unknown.
Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, Cassie, and several other alleged victims are scheduled to testify against him.
