Yesterday rumors spread that Diddy was forbidding his stepson Quincy Brown from appearing on an upcoming episode of Fox’s hit TV show, Empire. While many can speculate why he wouldn’t want the budding actor to appear on the show, it seems he may have a great reason. It’s all business.
Stars on the show are subject to music contracts similar to those on other shows like “Glee” or “American Idol” and according to Page Six, Diddy was not about to have Quincy signing over the rights to his music. “Diddy kicked up a huge stink and called all the top brass at 20th Century Fox TV to get them to change their rules over music rights,” a source told the publication, “He said there was no way his son was signing over his intellectual property. So he banned him from the show.”
Quincy has since deleted a photo he took of himself just before filming his scene for the show. Director Lee Daniels is still considering Quincy for the show’s second season, which has already been greenlit. It’s just a matter of who caves first.
Diddy has been in the game for a long time and I don’t think he’s letting anyone get over on his kids. I’m not mad at it.
If you’re itching to see Quincy on your screen, he just dropped a video for his first single, “Friends First” featuring French Montana. Check that out in the mean time!
