Diddy will be traveling back to his hometown as he is set to be honored with the Apollo Icon Award.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, the Bad Boy founder issued a call-to-action to individuals eager to join him in celebration on Monday, June 12th.
Wassup Harlem, I’m coming Home,” he said. “Monday, I’ll be there, getting that Apollo Icon Award. And you know it’s up. So if you in the city all the Harlemites, ya’ll know I ain’t got everybody’s number but I plan on seeing you, and drinks is on Diddy.”
Diddy is set to be honored with the prestigious Icon Award at the Apollo Theater’s Spring Benefit. Alongside him, there will be other notable award recipients, including basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who will receive the Impact Award. Jonelle Procope, the CEO of Apollo, will be recognized for her twenty years of dedicated service to the organization. Additionally, indie eyewear manufacturer Warby Parker will be presented with the Outstanding Leadership in Innovation, Diversity, and Global Community award.
“Yeah. The champ is coming back home. The King is coming back home,” he continued. “The son is coming back home. Harlem, Harlem, Harlem. I’m coming back home.”
The fundraiser serves as a tribute to the theater’s enduring legacy and its commitment to Harlem and New York City. Furthermore, all proceeds generated from the event will contribute to the advancement of the venue’s innovative performing arts, education, and community initiatives, which positively impact the lives of 200,000 individuals annually.
