Diddy has officially started his 50-month federal prison sentence after being transferred early Thursday morning to FCI Fort Dix, a low-security facility in New Jersey.
This move marks a new chapter for the entertainment mogul, who had been held at MDC Brooklyn since his September 2024 arrest. His legal team advocated for the transfer, citing Fort Dix as the best location to “address drug abuse issues” and “maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.”
The Federal Bureau of Prisons approved the request, placing Diddy in a facility known for less restrictive conditions. However, security concerns remain. During his sentencing hearing, his team revealed that a fellow inmate had already attempted to harm him, reportedly pressing a knife to his neck while he slept.
His longtime attorney, Mark Geragos, warned that Diddy “will have a target on his back wherever he ends up,” explaining that the threat of violence is still very real, even in low-security settings.
Diddy’s projected release date is currently May 8, 2028, though that may change based on his conduct and participation in rehabilitative programs. His legal team has filed an appeal and hopes to expedite the proceedings.
