Trump Admits Diddy Wrote Him a Letter but Says the Pardon Isn’t Happening

Diddy’s legal team has confirmed that conversations have taken place with the Trump administration about a possible pardon following his federal conviction last month.

“It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” attorney Nicole Westmoreland told CNN.

Despite Donald Trump publicly expressing doubts about pardoning Diddy, Westmoreland said the hip-hop icon remains optimistic.

”He is a very hopeful person, and I believe that he remains hopeful,” she said.

Diddy was recently found guilty of two counts related to prostitution transport, though he was acquitted of more severe charges like sex trafficking and RICO. His sentencing is set for October 3rd.

Westmoreland criticized the government’s decision to prosecute.

“The government knew that there was no way Diddy committed sex trafficking or RICO and they just continued prosecuting anyway,” she said.

During the trial, she delivered a standout cross-examination, confronting a witness with hotel records. The judge called it a “‘Perry Mason’ moment.” Westmoreland responded, “It was an honor for the judge to say that.”

On Diddy’s time behind bars, Westmoreland shared that it has been a transformative period.

“He appreciates the second chance. He was facing life,” she said. “I think he learned a lot through this situation. And I think it would be humbling to the strongest person on the face of the planet.”

As Diddy awaits sentencing, his team continues to prepare for an appeal and explore all legal avenues, including clemency.
