As federal prosecutors expand their case against Sean “Diddy” Combs, adding two additional alleged victims and new accusations, his attorney is pushing back, calling the case flawed and insisting the music mogul remains committed to fighting the charges in court.
“The latest indictment contains no new offenses. The prosecution’s theory remains flawed,” said Marc Agnifilo, Combs’ attorney, in a statement. “The government has added the ridiculous theory that two of Mr. Combs’ former girlfriends were not girlfriends at all but were prostitutes. Mr. Combs is as committed as ever to fighting these charges and winning at trial.”
The updated indictment, filed Thursday in the Southern District of New York, introduces two more alleged victims to the sex trafficking charges and accuses Combs of dangling a victim over an apartment balcony. Prosecutors allege that Combs used force, threats, and coercion to push victims into commercial sex acts.
Additionally, the revised indictment extends the racketeering conspiracy timeline to 2004, four years earlier than previously stated. It also expands the kidnapping charges to include both California and New York law violations and introduces two new narcotics—psilocyn (a hallucinogen) and methamphetamine—into the list of drugs allegedly linked to Combs’ criminal activities.
Despite the serious nature of the allegations, Combs has denied all wrongdoing and continues to fight both the federal criminal case and more than 30 civil lawsuits filed against him. He has been in federal custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since September, with his trial scheduled to begin in May.
