Former Bad Boy Records bodyguard Joseph “Big Joe” Sherman is speaking out in an emotional interview with News 4 New York’s Sarah Wallace, vehemently denying allegations made against him by Thalia Graves in a federal lawsuit. Graves accuses Sherman and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs of drugging and raping her in 2001 at Bad Boy Entertainment’s Manhattan headquarters. Sherman, who says he never even met Graves, believes the lawsuit is part of a larger money grab scheme orchestrated against him and Diddy.
Interview:
During his interview with Sarah Wallace, Big Joe Sherman made it clear that he has never met Graves and was not even in New York at the time of the alleged assault.
“It’s a lie on me. That’s all I’m saying. I don’t know this lady from anywhere. I wasn’t the head of security,” Sherman said, showing frustration at the claims.
He emphasized that he hadn’t worked for Bad Boy Records since the 1990s and shared photos with celebrities like Mariah Carey and Beyoncé as proof of his past security work. Despite having been at industry events with Diddy in later years, he asserts that their relationship ended after he left the company, and he had no involvement in Graves’ accusations.
“Not only wasn’t I there, I wasn’t even in New York,” Sherman stated, expressing disbelief over being named in the lawsuit.
Sherman went on to reveal texts he received from an Instagram account linked to Graves, which he claims show that she was attempting to rope him into a legal battle against Diddy. According to Sherman, the texts asked if he was willing to be a witness against Diddy in exchange for being left out of legal proceedings.
“Her and whoever she’s in cahoots with were orchestrating a money grab,” Sherman said. “She wanted me to be part of that money grab. It says it right in her texts.”
The texts indicated that if Sherman cooperated, Graves’ legal team would omit him from any legal fallout. He flatly refused, saying:
“Not only was there never a video, I never saw the woman. I’m nothing but a scapegoat for this BS because I wouldn’t lie on Sean Combs.”
Sherman’s legal team plans to file a counterclaim for defamation, saying the allegations have destroyed his livelihood and damaged his reputation. Graves’ attorney, Gloria Allred, responded to News 4 New York, stating: “The complaint speaks for itself. Our client looks forward to her day in court.”
In a separate development, former Bad Boy Records security officer Gene Deal, who once worked closely with Diddy, discussed his own interactions with Thalia Graves in a recent interview on Cap Capone News. Deal explained that Graves reached out to him about nine months ago, claiming that there was a tape of Diddy and Big Joe sexually assaulting her.
“She contacted me… She mentioned that she was close to a rap mogul. She said that there’s a tape out there that shows Sean Puffy Combs and a security personnel named Big Joe,” Deal revealed.
Graves told Deal that she wasn’t interested in pursuing action against Sherman, but rather wanted access to the tape to build her case against Diddy. Deal said he ran into Big Joe and asked him about the alleged tape, to which Sherman denied knowing anything about it.
“I seen Joe in the street… Joe said he didn’t know anything about it,” Deal recalled. He told Graves the same and thought the matter was over until he saw her lawsuit surface months later.
“Nine months to a year later, I see this thing come out that she’s accusing Joe and Puff of sexually assaulting her,”Deal said, expressing surprise at the lawsuit. “That’s crazy.”
As this legal saga unfolds, Sherman remains adamant that the lawsuit against him is a false accusation aimed at extorting money from high-profile individuals like Diddy. He’s ready to fight back with a defamation lawsuit of his own, while Diddy’s legal team has yet to respond to the latest developments.
