Stoney Westmoreland, a Disney Channel actor on the sitcom “Andi Mack,” has been arrested for allegedly plotting to have sex with a child. He played the reoccurring role of Andi’s grandfather.
According to Deadline, Salt Lake City court documents say Westmoreland’s arrest stemmed from an “investigation of enticing a minor by Internet or text,” when he allegedly asked a 13-year-old “to engage in acts with him and to send nude photos.”
Westmoreland, 48, also reportedly sent “pornographic” photos of himself. He was arrested by police while driving to pick up the teen he believed to be 13 years old.
He was charged with attempting to entice, seduce or lure a minor by internet or text. He also faces four counts of dealing in materials harmful to minors. Westmoreland was taken to Salt Lake County Jail on $30,000 bond.
Following his arrest, the network released a statement to verify that he has been terminated.
“Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors,” Patti McTeague, a rep for Disney said, “we have released him from his recurring role, and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week.”
McTeague says “Andi Mack” is the Disney Channel’s top show, and is rated No. 1 on any network for girls 6-14.
Westmoreland appeared on other mainstream television shows, such as “Scandal,” “Breaking Bad,” and “Better Call Saul.”
