Disney employees are accusing the company of deleting LGBTQ+ content from their Pixar films during the editing process.
A group of Disney employees claims that the executives have “barred” scenes that showcase same-sex affection from their films prior to their release.
“We at Pixar have personally witnessed beautiful stories, full of diverse characters. Come back from Disney corporate reviews shaved down to crumbs of what they once were. Nearly every moment of overtly gay affection is cut at Disney’s behest. Even if creating LGBTQIA+ content was the answer to fixing the discriminatory legislation in the world. We are being barred from creating it,” says “the LGBTQIA+ employees of Pixar & their allies” in a letter.
The letter came as a response after Disney failed to make a public statement in opposition to Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill. The bill was created to ban the teachings of sexual identity and gender orientation in early education.
