DJ Akademiks Hit With Lawsuit Alleging Rape, Assault and Defamation

DJ Akademiks is now facing serious allegations in a new lawsuit filed by attorney Tyrone Blackburn. Blackburn, known for representing plaintiffs in high-profile cases against celebrities like T.I. and Tiny, Nicki Minaj, and recently, the Lil Rod case against Sean “Diddy” Combs, is now representing Fauziya “Ziya” Abashe in this suit.

Abashe, who had a prior relationship with Akademiks (real name Livingston Allen), after meeting him online in 2021, has filed a lawsuit alleging rape, sexual assault, and defamation against him.

The claims stem from an incident alleged to have occurred on July 16, 2022, at Akademiks’ New Jersey residence. Abashe alleges she was invited to the internet personality’s home and was unexpectedly met by two men, referred to as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2, upon her arrival at Allen’s residence.

These individuals, she claims, drugged her drink and subjected her to alcohol-induced incapacitation before sexually assaulting her on the pool deck of Allen’s house.

The woman recounted that she later woke up to Akademiks continuing the assault, raping her both anally and vaginally despite her pleas for him to stop.

The lawsuit further alleges that Allen displayed a disturbing lack of remorse the following day by showing her surveillance footage of the attack and a trashcan that contained remnants of condom wrappers in response to questions about the previous night.

“According to Ms. Abashe, as she watched the video, she looked like she was just lying there lifeless, which did not sit right with her,” the suit reads.

Also included in the lawsuit were July 17 text messages from Akademiks urging the woman to “get tested,” which the suit argues is proof that Allen, “who had not slept with Ms. Abashe for over a year, engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse” with her that night.

After consulting with her attorney, Abashe went to local authorities, who instructed her to undergo a hospital-administered rape kit. She complied, and the kit reportedly found traces of Allen’s DNA. Abashe also participated in a recorded wiretap conversation in which Allen reportedly described the sexual encounter in explicit detail.

Despite her initial reluctance to press charges, the public exposure of the incident on social media late in 2023 compelled Abashe to take legal action. In response, Allen released a video on December 30, 2023, vehemently denying the assault and instead claiming that he was asleep and that the sexual encounter involved his friends and Abashe on his pool deck, an assertion that the lawsuit claims is defamatory.

Abashe’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, emphasized that litigation was the last resort after failed attempts to settle the matter privately. He expressed confidence that the legal process would expose the truth and hold Allen accountable for his actions.
