DJ Khaled surprised a group of high school kids in Flatbush, Brooklyn, as his We The Best Foundation celebrated the installation of a DJ Lab at the school.
The High School for Public Service’s music department was gifted with equipment for music recording and production, including deejaying, engineering and beat making.
BET reports that Khaled, with the help of Save The Music’s Technology Grant, wanted to engage young people who may not have been in band or choir by creating career pathways for talented students.
Henry Donahue, the executive director of Save The Music told BET “DJ Khaled is a powerful advocate for music education and has been with us since he announced the Music Technology Grant in 2017.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Students at the school had already been using the donated music equipment this school year, but were completely surprised when DJ Khaled showed up at the school as their guest lecturer.
Khaled engaged in an intimate Q & A session with the students, where they asked him about his hit-making career in hip hop as well as talked about his upcoming new album “Father of Asahd” which drops tonight at midnight.
