DJ Khaled brought out some of the hottest names in music to turn his medley performance featuring “Higher” into a tribute to the late rapper Nipsey Hussle.
According to the Blast, the Super Producer, donning a sweatshirt with Nipsey’s image was joined on stage by Meek Mill and John Legend to perform Higher which featured Nipsey.
Khaled also performed a medley of other songs off his new album “Father of Asahd” including “Jealous,” “You Stay,” and “Just Us,” with featured guests and performers like Sza, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, Jeremiah, and J.Balvin.
DJ Khaled premiered the video for “Higher” last week and announced that proceeds from the single would go to Nipsey’s children.
The very title of the song reminds us that vibrating on a ‘Higher’ level was the essence of Nipsey’s soul,” DJ Khaled said. “It is in this spirit, of moving forward, of preserving his mission that I, my co-writers, producers and label partners are donating 100% of all our proceeds from ‘Higher’ to Nipsey’s children, Emani and Kross.”
Khaled used his performance to pay respects to the prolific rapper. At the end of his Saturday Night Live performance, he told the audience “Long live Nipsey Hussle… The Marathon continues.”
His album “Father of Asahd” is out now.
