DJ Paul is setting the record straight.
Three 6 Mafia was never about devil worship. During a recent sit down with BunnieXo, he was asked about the group’s name and whether they were Satanists since “666” is in the title.

“Yeah, it came from that,” DJ Paul admitted, but quickly clarified that it was just a sampled phrase in a song and never their official name at first. “It just sounded dope, so I started sampling ‘Triple 6 Mafia,’ and it became popular. But it still wasn’t our name.”
Eventually, when it was time to name the group, DJ Paul suggested “Triple 6 Mafia,” and everyone liked it.
The interviewer then brought up a past interview where Lord Infamous said he “dabbled” in Satanism. DJ Paul shut that down immediately.
“He didn’t do that for real, hell naw. He was just high,” DJ Paul said.
He made it clear that both he and Lord Infamous grew up in the church. “He was singing ‘Amazing Grace,’ and I was playing the organ,” he added.
At the end of the day, DJ Paul says all the Satanism talk was “just an image.” Nothing more.
