DJ Slammed For Playing Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” For Prom Queen In Wheelchair, “ When Your Legs Don’t Work Like They Use To Before” [Video]

Talk about terrible timing. A DJ who was hired for a prom has taken a lot of heat for playing  Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud.”

Although nothing is wrong with the song, the lyrics in the opening line—“When your legs don’t work like they use to before” made the crowd cringe.

Prom queen Sarah Mendenhall sat in the middle of the dance floor — in a wheelchair as the song played.

The clip — which was posted by user Celeste Orozco on Thursday, has garnered 16 million views and shows the crowd’s response to the chosen song.

“This would haunt me the rest of my life if I were the DJ,” Orozco wrote on top of the scene, which has also received over 2.8 million likes and 44,900 comments.

“The DJ knew exactly what he was doing,” one user claimed, with another adding, “That’s f–ked up bro.”

Someone else guessed, “The DJ was slipped a $20 to play that by the girl who came in second place.”

The video has definitely caused a wide range of responses, including another DJ who said, “I’m a wedding DJ.. ouch,” one user admitted. “We can’t know every lyric to every song, but damn.”

Despite the uproar, the prom queen has had the final say on it all. “Hey everyone so this is me lol,” Mendenhall wrote. “I found it really funny and ironic. I didn’t know what was playing until way after cause I was tryna ✨dance✨.”

“Had a great prom night and a good laugh about it the next day,” Orozco responded, adding that Mendenhall “was her best friend” and, “Please stop with the hate.”
