On Wednesday night, Eazy-E’s daughter, Ree, took to Instagram to call out DJ Vlad for an offensive Instagram post about her father, in which he used a photo of his funeral program for a post about HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness.
“He knows because he’s spoken to a few members of my family, in reference to my dad, and knows that it’s not AIDS that killed my father,” Lee said in a video, adding “My daddy was murdered and you know that.”
In response, Vlad released a statement to clarify his intentions in posting the memorial.
“I recently made a post on #VladTV’s Instagram about Eazy-E’s passing,” he said. “In the caption, I not only sent my condolences but also talked about AIDS awareness. I stated that ‘AIDS is real’ and people should use condoms, get themselves and their partners tested, use instant HIV test kits like Oraquick, as well as exploring HIV prevention medication like Truvada.”
As he continued, he stood by the connection, and highlighted the fact that more than 37 million people are currently living with HIV, as two million new cases are diagnosed annually. Vlad also confirmed Ree’s claim that he’d spoken to several friends and family members of the late MC, many of whom believed “Suge Knight or the CIA secretly killed Eazy,” but in regards to his own viewpoints on the rapper’s tragic death, he said, “I do not subscribe to this theory.”
Despite his disbelief in the family’s claim, he expressed his continued love, support, and utmost respect, for the late rapper and his family.
“Its been almost 25 years since Eazy’s passing and there’s still no cure for AIDS,” Vlad continued after sharing a quote from Eazy, in which he expressed his desire to be an example for others. “Let’s make sure that his very Important words have a positive effect on people’s lives and aren’t overshadowed by conspiracy theories.”
