Do you know that hundreds of years of struggle have been for YOU?” Maya Angelou told an angry Tupac Shakur on the set of Poetic Justice back in 1993. The tears Pac shed from those inspiring words, he kept with him. His 1999 posthumous album with The Outlawz being named after one of Angelou’s most powerful poems, “Still I Rise.”
Dr. Maya Angelou, a poet, singer/actress & civil rights activist, passed away this morning from an unknown illness at the age of 86. Rather than post a cliche photo and several lines from “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings,” I instead wanted to make light of how a woman managed to touch so many generations in her short time on earth.
