Doctor Tries to Hire Hells Angels Hitman to Kill Witness Set to Testify in His Opioid Fraud Trial

A doctor tried to call in some shooters from Hells Angels to take out a witness who was set to testify against him in his opioid fraud trial.

Connecticut physician Anatoly Braylovsky, who operated the Family Practice of Greater New Haven in Wallingford, was arrested in May 2020 after a years-long probe. In 2016, Braylovsky was informed that he was being investigated after many of his patients were found to have criminal records, some of which were drug-related. Despite the investigation, Braylovsky continued to prescribe his patients large quantities of opioids, Alprazolam and Adderall. In many cases, the prescripts were not medically necessary. Authorities soon found that Braylovsky was selling prescriptions to people. One source told investigators that on four occasions between October 2019 and January 2020, they paid Braylovsky $1,600 in cash for a script for 150 oxycodone 30mg pills.

Fast forward to August of 2021, when the FBI received a tip that Braylovsky reached out to a man for “help regarding witnesses.” The 50-year-old doctor asked the man, an FBI informant, if he would speak with the president of Hells Angels to get rid of the witness set to testify against him in the upcoming opioid trial. The doctor explained that his short time in jail last year before posting bail was “the worst five days of his life” and said he could not return. During a follow-up meeting with the supposed “hitman,” an undercover FBI agent in actuality, Braylovsky confirmed that he needed the witness gone but also seemed to be nervous about the plot and told the agent he needed more time to think about it. The FBI re-arrested him on August 27th.

In addition to his healthcare fraud charges, Braylovsky is now charged with obstruction of justice for the murder-for-hire scheme.
