Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp is taking his talents up the interstate in a new trade to the San Diego Padres. The Padres are receiving Kemp and catcher Tim Federowicz in a package deal for pitcher Zach Eflin, catcher Yasmani Grandal and pitcher Joe Wieland.
To cover part of Matt Kemp’s remaining $107 million salary the Dodgers will also be sending the Padres $31 million. The deal is expected to finalize today.
“We obviously traded away some very good players tonight,” says Friedman, the Dodgers’ president of baseball operations, “But we feel with the totality of the moves ourselves, we made ourselves a better team.”
So there you have it! Ladies in San Diego, start your engines!
