Doechii has seemingly been MIA in recent weeks, and now, she was a no-show at the VMAs, despite winning two awards.
On Sunday night, the rap star was absent from the 2025 MTV VMAs, even as she took home Best Hip-Hop and Best Choreography for her viral single “Anxiety.” The track, which exploded on TikTok, also earned nominations for Song of the Year and Video for Good. But her noticeable absence has fans raising eyebrows, especially after a string of unexplained festival cancellations.
In August, the Florida-born rapper backed out of three major European festival performances at All Points East in London, Forwards in Bristol, and Rock en Seine in Paris. Each event confirmed the news on social media, with no official reason given for her last-minute withdrawals.
“We’re very sorry to announce that Doechii will no longer be performing,” All Points East wrote. “She is an incredible artist… we were hugely excited to see her on stage.”
While fans speculated about her team’s decisions, Doechii has remained quiet on her absence from the spotlight. Her next major move is the “Live from the Swamp” tour, which is slated to kick off on October 14th in Chicago and wrap up in Seattle on November 10th. She’s also expected to appear at All Things Go and Austin City Limits this fall, and she’ll be heading to Australia in December for the Spilt Milk festival series.
Hopefully, none of these upcoming dates get scratched from Doechii’s calendar.
