Doja Cat is finally explaining her side of the Sam Hyde fallout.
In case you forgot, last month, the “Streets” rapper/singer shared a selfie on Instagram wearing a t-shirt that bore an image of neo-nazi and far-right comedian Sam Hyde. The garment greatly upset her massive fanbase, which led to Doja deleting the photo and reuploading it with part of the shirt cropped out. Unfortunately for her, the damage was done, and the internet dragged her.
When speaking with Ebro this week, Doja claimed she had no idea of what type of “negative a** sh**” Hyde was attached to. Instead, she wore the shirt because Hyde is a “funny guy.”

Elsewhere in the chat, Doja turned her attention to the narrative that she hates her fans. This had emerged over several months, with the performer once telling her fans, “I don’t know ya’ll” when they asked her to say “I love you” on Threads. However, Doja says it was all one big misunderstanding of the jokes she made.
“I never said that, but I do like to play with that as a meme. It’s definitely something, and I know that people who get it, get it, and I’m fine with that,” Doja told Darden, adding, “I don’t need to have to explain my sense of humor or explain comedy to anyone. If people don’t see the joke, then they just don’t see the joke. It’s not my responsibility to have them understand.”
In addition to her t-shirt drama and the alleged dislike for her fans, Doja has also faced backlash for what some deemed to be,’demonic imagery, especially in music videos such as “Demons.” Again, Doja is unphased by the drama.
