Doja Cat recently discussed her views on social media and how it affects our mental well-being during an interview with Jack Harlow for Present Space.
The rapper explained why she’s so selective about who she follows online, emphasizing that she wants her feed to be a source of inspiration and education, not just a highlight reel of other people’s lives.
“I think that as people, we are not ready, or not fully prepared, as far as the internet,” Doja Cat said. “When we see things online, we think we’re in control of it, but we’re not. Seeing people living their best lives when we’re not feeling great can mess with our heads.”
She talked about her past struggle with negative thoughts triggered by seeing others’ seemingly perfect lives.
“I used to feel negative, low vibrational thoughts like, ‘Why isn’t that me right now?'” Doja explained.
Recently, however, Doja made headlines when she reactivated her social media accounts last week when she shared a video of herself on a stripper pole, casually reading a book.
Earlier this year, she deactivated her accounts after she was allegedly hacked.
