Dom Lemon is reportedly millions richer after landing a settlement with his former employer, CNN.
The news anchor and television journalist reached a separation deal with the network, reportedly on a $24.5 million payout, which is what he would have received if his contract with CNN ended in three and a half years, The Wrap reported.
Lemon worked as an anchor for CNN for 17 years, but last April, he announced his abrupt termination on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I was informed this morning by my agent I have been terminated by CNN. I am stunned,” Lemon wrote.
“Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate. He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter,” CNN responded shortly after.
Things seemed to go sour between Lemon and the network after he began making reference to the age of Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, calling her “past her prime” on an episode of CNN This Morning. The former CNN host’s comments shocked co-hosts Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins. Lemon ultimately “agreed to participate in formal training” before returning to the show within a week.
Two months later, Lemon got into a heated exchange with Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, which was the last straw for the network.
Lemon recently announced his plans to launch his own show on X.
