Donald Trump is afraid that journalists are plotting to get close so they can cough on him to spread the coronavirus to him.
According to Complex, Trump is reportedly telling his aides that he’s scared journalists will get him sick with the COVID-19 coronavirus. A former West Wing official told Vanity Fair that Trump is upset that he can’t “control the narrative” of the epidemic.
“He’s definitely melting down over this,” a source close the celebrity-in-chief said, adding that Trump even requested Secret Service to set up a screening area at the White House that would block anyone who is ill from entering.
As cautious as Trump is, you’d think he’d take the virus seriously on a grander scale – but he’s not. On Twitter, Trump said journalists were spreading “fake news” about coronavirus and announced that he planned on opening an investigation into “the media” over “market manipulation.”
“He’s very frustrated he doesn’t have a good team around him,” said the insider, adding that Trump is “just now waking up to the fact that this is bad, and he doesn’t know how to respond.” Former Trump aide Sam Nunberg also previously said that Trump “was obsessed with Ebola” during his time in the position. “He may take suggestions to stop shaking hands, but in terms of shutting stuff down, his position is: ‘No, I’m not going to do it.'”
As of Monday, there are more than 700 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the U.S.
