Donald Trump caught another case of twitter fingers early Wednesday morning when New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced his plans to paint a Black Lives Matter mural outside the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue.
Trump referred to the mural as “a symbol of hate,” and went on to say that the painting would “further antagonize” NYPD officers, Daily Beast reported.
” This will further antagonize New York’s Finest, who LOVE New York & vividly remember the horrible BLM chant, “Pigs In A Blanket, Fry ‘Em Like Bacon,” Trump tweeted.
He further stated that the large mural would be “denigrating this luxury avenue.”
Trump also criticized the mayor’s decision to fund the project.” NYC is cutting police funding by $1 billion, and yet the mayor is painting a big, expensive, yellow Black Lives Matter sign on Fifth Avenue,” Trump tweeted.
He insisted that the money be spent on fighting crime, instead.
However, de Blasio responded to Trump’s rant, saying, “Black people BUILT 5th Ave and so much of this nation. Your ‘luxury’ came from THEIR labor, for which they have never been justly compensated.”
The mayor said that he is honoring the labor of Black people.
“The fact that you see it as denigrating your street is the definition of racism,” he added.
