Donald Trump is looking to fulfill his dream of seeking a third term, a disturbing notion that could change the country if it comes to fruition.
In an exclusive interview with NBC News, Trump did not rule out the possibility of running for a third term, despite the Constitution’s 22nd Amendment prohibiting it.
“A lot of people want me to do it,” Trump said, referring to his allies, while adding, “But I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration.”
“I’m focused on the current,” Trump clarified when asked about his intentions, emphasizing that it was too soon to consider such a move. He also revealed there are “methods” that could potentially allow him to run again, though he refused to provide details, stating only that “that’s one” method when asked about a potential plan involving Vice President JD Vance. He declined to elaborate further, simply responding, “no” when asked for another.
Amending the Constitution to remove the two-term limit would require a difficult and lengthy process, needing two-thirds of Congress or states to agree. Trump has hinted at his desire for a third term before, often dismissed as trolling, but with allies like Rep. Andy Ogles pushing resolutions to extend term limits, this idea may be gaining traction. Steve Bannon has even predicted Trump’s return in 2028, suggesting alternatives to secure his third term despite constitutional barriers.
