Donald Trump is once again making waves with a statement about former President Joe Biden and his administration’s handling of pardons. In a fiery post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that certain pardons granted under Biden’s presidency are “VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT.” According to Trump, these pardons were signed using an autopen; an automated signature device, without Biden’s direct approval or awareness.
Trump went on to accuse the recipients of these pardons, as well as members of the House Select Committee that investigated the January 6th Capitol riot, of possible criminal activity. He suggested that those involved in the pardons could be subject to a high-level investigation, arguing that Biden was uninformed about the process and that the real decision-makers may have acted unlawfully.
“The necessary Pardoning Documents were not explained to, or approved by, Biden. He knew nothing about them, and the people that did may have committed a crime,” Trump wrote.
He also reignited his longstanding criticism of the House committee that investigated his role in the Capitol attack, calling its members “political thugs” and blaming them for allegedly destroying and deleting evidence. Trump implied that the committee members could be behind the controversial pardons and should be held accountable.
