Donald Trump Hires Well-Known Atlanta Attorney Drew Findling Despite His Past Tweets Against Him

Donald Trump has called on a well-known Atlanta attorney to help him out with one of his many legal battles.

Attorney Drew Findling, who also goes by #BillionDollarLawyer, has an A-list clientele. He has represented Cardi B, Gucci Mane, Migos, and now Donald Trump in his ongoing criminal investigation in Georgia, regarding the allegations that Trump attempted to overturn the 2020 election.

Findling provided a statement to the Insider after news broke that he would be handling the case. He called the investigation an “erroneous and politically driven persecution.”

And when it comes to his past disagreements with Trump’s actions as a president, Findling said: “I am a passionate advocate against injustice and will not deny that; however, where I see a misuse and abuse of power, I feel compelled to act.”

“I may differ politically from many of my clients, but that doesn’t change my commitment to defend against wrongful investigations.”

Jennifer Little, who is Findling’s co-counsel, said in a statement that a “politically diverse group of attorneys with differing perspectives” were “handpicked on behalf of the President” to represent him in the case. “We as a team look forward to vigorously defending our client and the Constitution.”

Findling, who is the former president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, previously made tweets that slammed Trump out, calling him both “racist” and “pathetic.”

He is also an advocate for progression. Following the overturn of Roe v. Wade, Findling vowed on a June 26 Instagram post that he would “commit my law firm to fighting to restore a woman’s right to choose which has been destroyed by the Supreme Court.”

In 2020, he posted a lengthy video in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

As for Trump, he is currently facing many legal woes that are related to financial wrongdoing, the January 6 attack on the Capitol, his attempts to overturn the 2020 election, and other aspects of his conduct, Business Insider reported.

On Monday, Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home was raided by the FBI in an investigation surrounding his handling of classified documents.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has brought on his case in Georgia. He has launched an investigation into both Trump’s alleged attempts to pressure Georgia officials to overturn the state’s 2020 election results and an alleged scheme to send a slate of phony pro-Trump electors in place of those won by President Joe Biden. 

Legal experts say that the Georgia investigation is possibly the most pressing legal challenge against Trump, which is likely why he hired Findling for the matter.

“He’s the biggest lawyer in the game, man,” said rapper Offset, a member of the Atlanta-based hip-hop trio “Migos,” during a 2018 interview with the Times.

Findling went with Offset in 2020 to the polls for the rapper’s first time voting in a presidential election, in which he voted for President Joe Biden.
