Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial could begin on the same day that President-elect Joe Biden is sworn into office.
Trump will face trial when he leaves office on January 20th after being impeached on Wednesday. The impeachment comes one week after he encouraged his supporters to storm the Capitol in protest of the Electoral College votes certification, which shows Joe Biden to be the winner of the election. This violent mob forced Congressmembers to be evacuated and caused five deaths.
The FBI is warning that the Capitol riot will likely not be an isolated incident, as armed riots by volatile Trump supporters are being planned in every state capitol on Inauguration Day.
Trump has maintained his innocence, though he has not condemned his supporters for their violent attack.
