Donald Trump has an idea of who he would like to see become the next pope.

When asked who should succeed Pope Francis, Trump immediately declared to media cameras that he’s his own top choice for the role.
“I’d like to be pope,” he stated. “That would be my number one choice.”
Though it’s clear Trump was joking, he later clarified that he doesn’t have a strong preference. Although Trump isn’t a cardinal and doesn’t regularly attend Mass, his attention-grabbing appearance at Pope Francis’ funeral in a bright blue suit may hint at his flair for standing out.
While Trump may have been poking fun at the question about becoming the next Catholic leader, he has become alarmingly serious about pursuing a third presidential term. He recently began selling merchandise that reads, “Trump 2028,” and previously hinted that a third term was possible, despite U.S. presidents only being allowed by law to serve two terms, totaling eight years. This has become a point of concern for American citizens, who fear the many consequences of Trump remaining in office. Given that his approval rate is at an all-time low, it’s apparent most are eager to get him out of the White House for good.
